SdKfz 7/1 #1 / Road Wheels /

This one was long(er) time coming, as my attention was drawn away for a bit, into wet and peculiar reality of Silent Hill "Downpour". New release of this old and famous horror series features Murphy Pendelton's story, escaped convict looking for a way out of prison bus crash site. He ends up in Silent Hill, a very dark town. Town itself  may not exactly scare, but give a bit of goose flesh, and that feeling of un-reality. Murphy is allowed to scout the town in certain limits, roads are still cut off, any available way out is blocked, but more areas are available to explore. Side quests are present in those extra locations and give some additional info about story line and Murphy's past (after all there must be a reason why he is in claws of madness). Game can be easily put in line with part 2, which is widely considered as best out of the series. The Downpour takes what is the best out of all previous games I suppose, novelty is escape or rather running away from "red nightmare" in different versions of "other world" (similarity to Silent Hill Shattered Memories for Wii). Game definitely deserves attention, it's "must have" for all fans. Completing it once is never enough especially having bonuses in second play through :D

Choosing my next project was somehow difficult, especially (but not only, read above;) after receiving bulky package with eagerly awaited models such as: railgun Leopold K5, Locomotive Kriegslok BR52, Pzkpfw VI Tiger and Sdkfz 7/1,2. For two first projects I need proper space, I think only reasonable will be wall space with long (so long!) shelves. Railgun itself, according to instructions will have at least 120 cm in length and locomotive is 90 cm long. Both models will take considerably more construction time so some preparations must be made first.  Because of the size of these future plans I picked a 1:25 scale, AA version of 8 Ton German half track SdKfz 7/1 from Halinski. This unit is armed with 4 barreled flak 38 (single barreled version of the same gun, also from Halinski, is shown in Quick View gallery).

I intend to build this model in standard color (in future, I think it may be a step forward to paint some of my models, work further on details and painting techniques using air brush) with all parts provided in a kit, with application of some extra detail, if possible according to reference
Road wheels come in two sets  inner and outer wheels, both sets are doubled. Assembly started with thickening all base parts on card  and cutting out all required areas.  I've noticed certain parts may had been designed for paper instead of card (whole model is printed on card though) and specified diameters of tubes to roll are incorrect. Edging  strips (parts 3 and 3a) for both sets of wheels had to be cut down by 5 inches to fit and not to stick out of top ring coves. Same story with all axis. Instruction says 4 mm diameter should be used for rolling, but I had to do it using a pin. I left it out as last job to connect all subcomponents together. Sprockets are well under way. Construction is totally different to what I got used to making tanks (even those really simple versions), 12 teeth per sprocket and all are to be prepared out of small, 1 mm thick parts... I armed myself with patience, still tracks ahead:]
