la Résistance #1 / Setting the Scene /

Scenario of this project comes with two kits in 1:35, Tamiya's recent release Simca 5 car and French Resistance kit from Master Box. Main idea of this diorama is an ambush set by 2 members of French Resistance to capture German officer and his inventory.

Build started with assembly of Tamiya's kit, which despite it's final size, is pretty enjoyable kit. The whole build can be done in couple stages, suspension with wheels, body with details. Doors were not permanently fixed as well as seats and steering wheel to ease interior detail painting, and accommodation of the goodies. I am still not exactly sure what kind of goodies may that be, for space is rather limited. Options are many, from weapons to food/supplies or spoils of war, or even all together.

1,5 x 5 inches plywood panels & polystyrene sheets were used to create display base. Texturing was done using PVA glue, modeling sand from GW, slate & fine slate, static grass. Tamiya's XF 57, 59,11 were airbrushed in several layers, Citadel washes were randomly applied for color variety. Grey & light grey used to paint slate & small rocks. Next, static grass & mix of kitchen spices were glued on using heavy diluted PVA glue, clump foliage squeezed below larger rocks on North side. Whole situation is going to look convincing with at least couple bullet holes in windscreen., what caused driver to turn rapidly and hit cable pole (still to come).

3 figures were picked from MB's kit, in plain box art situation. Details are sharp, facial expressions really convincing. Captured German officer is being disarmed under point of a gun, while his vehicle is being searched by member of resistance, who's positively surprised about the goodies found in the car. German officer has got Luger gun in holster, in this case opened one from Dragon kit.. Resistance is going to be armed with sten gun (pointed at the officer), and heavy machine gun, Bren provided within the kit.
