Ford T Modell 1912, Revell, 1:16

I used to build plastic models in 1:72 or 1:76 scales, tanks and planes alike (Matchbox, Revell, Academy). I do remember few kits I really enjoyed in 1:76 each with small diorama - Wespe, Panzer III DAK or American Half Track. I also tried my basic skills making few 1:35 models, Kubelwagen and BMW R75 from Italeri, Stug IV and Sdkfz 232. This time I picked something bigger, and quite different from my general interests. It is model of rather famous car from beginning of 20th century - Ford T (1912). Kit is from Revell, the scale is 1:16. It is also a special gift model, which I built some time ago, waiting not to spoil a surprise...

Build started with assembly of upper body, driver's section with seat, doors (driver's side door is locked - no chance to open it anyway, spare wheel and car jack are blocking the way), front section panels with steering wheel rod, pedals, gear stick and dashboard. It is rather simple assembly, step by step following instruction. Construction of this vehicle was not complex anyway, but large scale of the model, made huge areas and joints quite tricky - all faults were visible. At least fitting of parts was with no major problems. Couple drafts between driver's seat and outer wall were filled with Super Glue and sanded down flat.

Chaos Black spray from old Citadel (c) range was used as prime undercoat, with skull white (c) for wooden floor sections. Leather seats were painted with Mechrite Red (c), Scab Red (c) as second layer and finally washed down with Bhaal Red (c). Dashboard and other panels were covered with couple layers of wash (Gryphon Sephia (c)), and gloss varnish.

Suspension is very simple, only few  pipes with set of leaf springs and couple axles. I did not want to leave whole model black so I used Charadon Granite (c) for all suspension components. Having all painted and all sub-assemblies done, wheels were prepared. Model comes as 4 frames, all in different colors - gray, golden, black and clear. I left rims in original color as well as few other details of the model. Vinyl tires are very interesting gadget, never had pleasure of using this sort of accessories before. Next step was rear section with additional seat and floor wooden panel, both painted the same way as previously.

Before permanently fixing wheels and rear seat section, bonnet and radiator cover were added. Next were windscreen and hood with supports. Such details as lights and handles are in original shining gold color. Need to mention that removing gold or chrome from connecting areas is necessary, otherwise glue may not fix parts together, the chrome layer will be peeling off instead. Spare wheel with holders, horn, car jack were applied and application of fender decals finished the build.
